Travel Job Story: Traveling to Antarctica while Working for the US Antarctic Program with Amanda Maughmer
My guest today Amanda Maughmer never intentionally planned on traveling to Antarctica for work, but when she was laid off from her previously role, the US Antarctic Program was eager to bring her on as a Business Process Analyst. She looked at the processes for various departments and used the knowledge of the staff in those areas, making the processes automated, streamlined, more efficient, etc. She deployed to McMurdo Station for about a month to examine processes and pain points happening on "the ice".
We also discuss life in Antarctica and the variety of contract roles they hire for annually. Ever wanted to visit Antarctica as an employee and not a tourist? You can't miss this episode!
